April showers bring May flowers to the tower that is the Top of the Hyatt San Diego, the city’s highest rooftop bar. Flourish from 40 stories above in the sky-high lounge, now decked out for springtime with their ‘Over the Top Springtime Soiree’ takeover. The always-charming, classy rooftop space has officially blossomed into a beautiful butterfly for spring, decked out with colors of the season and lush, airy decor with clear thought in every piece. The event’s centerpiece, of course, was a spread of tantalizing finger-foods and sweet treats readily available for seconds, giving guests a sample of their menu: think ahi poke, crispy Sicilian beef arancini, and classic shrimp cocktail. Open for guests from April 20 - June 18, simply ride the elevator up and find yourself surrounded by San Diego skyline views, irresistible sips and sweets, and superb performers that might even transport you to the sounds of yesterday.

Full bloom, or full booze? Thankfully, this venue welcomes both with open arms. The Hyatt’s Springtime Soirée drink menu has been carefully curated with a little something for everyone, with each drink option approachable; not overly sweet nor too strong. For a taste of spring sweetness, try the Strawberry Fields: a mix of Blade & Bow Bourbon, ginger syrup, lemon juice, bitters, strawberry and mint leaves. For those who like a bit of something stronger, go for the Head in the Clouds. It’s the perfect end-cap to your evening, and pairs perfectly with your cannoli trio dessert. It’s a classy blend of Ron Zacapa Rum, aperol, sweet vermouth and créme de cacao, topped off by a cotton candy garnish reminiscent of the clouds you see hung delicately above you.

With springtime here to make our lives a little sweeter, it’s only right that the Springtime Soirée’s special menu features three different kinds of the famous ricotta-stuffed, shell-cased Italian delicacy we couldn’t live without: cannolis. Their menu features a cannoli trio dessert for spring, each with a distinct flavor and topped with edible flowers to tie in the spring feel. In the trio you’ll find the Traditional Sicilian, stuffed with ricotta, candied orange and chocolate chips, the Pistachio Rose, a pistachio mascarpone mixed with rose-scented raspberry jam, and the Lemon, a lemon ricotta mixed with white chocolate chips. The limited-time special will be offered to sweeten your spring for the entire season, and perfect to share with your soirée pals – though we can’t say we could ever regret having it all to ourselves.

Not to state the obvious, but an evening of bites and a little booze wouldn’t be complete without the complement of live music. The Top of the Hyatt’s Over the Top Springtime Soirée will feature live music every Tuesday and Friday through June, happening 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. most evenings and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on select nights. Catch top-notch performers filling the room livening up the already ebullient space playing sets spanning multiple genres. Slow down with pianist and vocalist Saint Misty, experience covers and originals by vibrant Emmy Jones, and even throw it back to The Rat Pack days with the classy, big-band feel led by Jefferson Schildgen. Whichever night you choose, come ready to cheer for more than just your toast to the evening for these incredibly captivating performers.

If your Instagram feed has been lacking, look no further. Spruce up that square grid no problem with a few shots in the lounge’s charming springtime decor! The soaring space has been covered wall-to-wall with seasonal decor, emulating an irresistible, enchanting garden feel. Even the furniture is the garden-standard: cozy up in a wicker egg chair or cushy lounge seat lined with pastel pillows, all sitting atop a plush green carpet. (Or was it grass? Could’ve fooled us.) At 40 floors high, there’s still reason to look up -– and we recommend you do. You’ll be seated beneath hanging tulips and greenery, fanciful umbrellas and plush, dreamy hanging clouds. There’s even a hanging daybed swing for those fun action shots – and if that weren’t enough, the urge to sway to the live music makes way for endless content opportunities.
